BOWLING.

KELBURN VISIT LEVIN. Yesterday morning six rinks of bowlers from the Kelburn Club, Wellington, arrived in Levin at 11 a.m., afterwards spending the day on the local green, where enjoyable games were played against rinks from the Levin Club. On arrival at the green the visitors were welcomed by hearty cheers from the local members, followed by the usual cup of tea with lignt refreshments, during which, the club’s president (Mr H. Walker) in a few well chosen words, officially welcomed the visitors. Mr H. Rose, President of the Kelburn Club, in returning thanks, stated it was the delight of city members to get a day in the country and he was quite sure that everyone of them would gain some profit and pleasure, if only from a health point of view. After refreshments had been partaken of, the visitors adjourned to the green. During the morning and afternoon six rink games were played. The following are the scores. MORNING. Levin: Herrick, Bagrie, Bull, Challies (s) 15 lost to Kelburn: Miller, Van Stavern, Spence, Hay-Mack (s) 17. Levin: Higson, von Hartitzsch, Cameron and Hawke (s) 9 lost to Kelburn: Gray, Dawson, Rose and T, Gray (s) 16. Levin: Haylock, Powell, Langelan and Lemmon (s) 18 beat Kelburn: Tingey, Lander, Wright and Widdop (s) 13. Levin: Hough, Wall, Channings, and iPercy (s) 14 lost to. Kelburn: Arthur, Patterson, Tomkies and McColl (s) 17. Levin: Bryant, Rolston, Capper and Pyke (s) 9 lost to Kelburn: Burns, Thomson, Mackenzie and Williams Gj) 17. Levin; Arcus, Shennan, Clements, and Walker (s) 8 lost to Kelburn: Rabone, Johnston, Long and Harris (s) 15. AFTERNOON. Levin: Mackay, Powell, Burrell and Cameron (s) 18 lost to Kelburn: Miller, "Van Stavern, Spence and Hay-Mack (s) 19. Levin: Dempsey, Mence, Pyke and Bull (s) 19 lost to Kelburn; S. Gray Dawson, Rose and T. Gray (s) 22. Levin; Pink, Hough, Shennan, and Channings (s) 12 lost to Kelburn: Burns, Thomson, McKenzie, and Williams (s) 28. Levin: Capper, Bryant, Challies and Langelan (s) 14 lost to Kelburn: Arthur, Patterson, Tomkies and McColl (s) 22. Levin; Allan, Percy, Hawke and Clements (s) 22 beat Kelburn: Rabone, Johnson, Long and Marris (s) 19. Levin: Walker, Wall, Lemmon, and Meads (s) 22 beat Kelburn: Tingey, Landers, Weight and Widdop (s) 20. The final scores were: Kelburn: Morning 95, afternoon 130, total 225. Levin: Morning 73, afternoon 107, total 180. Rink scores were: Kelburn 9, Levin 3. At the conclusion of the afternoon’s play, the President, (Mr H. Walker) expressed the hope that the visitors had enjoyed the day and that they would return to Wellington much :e----freshed by their outing. The weather had been very favourable and everyone had played the game with the spirit well-known among bowlers. Replying, Mr Rose, said they had had a most delightful day and he would like to say that many of the members who had been left at home would have come to Levin if the opportunity had been afforded them. He hoped that the friendship existing between the Kelburn and Levin Clubs would long continue. After hearty cheers had been exchanged, the visitors departed for their homes, one and all agreeing they had spent a very pleasant day. NOTES. On Saturday next five rinks from Levin will visit Otaki to play a friendly return match. A friendly return match will be plaved against Marton at Marton on Wednesday next, when three rinks from Levin will make the trip.
