STRUCK OFF.
DEFAULTING (SOLICITORS.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday.
The Court of Appeal this morning dealt with the applications of the New Zealand Law Society to have various .practitioners struck off the rolls of barristers and solicitors of the Dominion.
In the case of John Champion Miller, solicitor of Inglewood, counsel for the Law Society, stated that over a period of mon'tShs !the banking had been short and that the shortage had not. been accounted for. The total ■shortage amounted to £52 19s 6d, which had since been made good by his relatives. An order was made striking him off the rolls of solicitors. Counsel who appeared for Harrild Hales Huchijson, solicitor l , of Palmerston North, said the facts were not in dispute. There was a deficiency of £ll2, which had since been made good. As the practitioner was comparatively a young man, he asked that the extreme order of striking him off be not made but some period of suspension be imposed. The Court, however, held that the usual order of striking off should be made with costs.
Similar orders were also made by consent against William Perry Boilings, of Wellington, Douglas Barrington Kent, of Waipukurau and Albert Lionel Bailey, and Walter Hislop, both of Napier.
