In the Pacific Coast South-West tenuis tourney Misses Ryan and Alice Marble won'the women's doubles title, defeating Misses Round and Heeley,
(I—l, o—2. ! In the semi-finals, Misses Ryan and Marble defeated Mrs. van Ryn and Mrs. Harper, (i—4, (V —l; Misses Round and Heeley defeated Misses Babcock and. Josephine Oruickshank, G—l, 6—2. Van Ryu and Stratford eliminated •Turnbull and Quist (Australia) in the semi-iinals of the doubles, (3 —1, 6 —4, 13 —11. The match was featured by a thrilling third set, which went to 24 g..mes. The Australians started slowly ai the first set and were able to win only one game. In the second set tney solved their opponents' attack and concentrated low volleys to Stratford, keeping the ball away from van ivyn as much as possible. They made a determined stand in the final set, which went to the 23rd game without a break on the service, which Quist lost on his own double fault. The Americans won the deciding game after 16 hard fougnc points. The Australians'.big chance of victory came in the ltith game when leading by 8 to 7. They gained a 40 ; — 30 lead, but were unable to hold it. Perry retained the singles championship by defeating Jiro Satoh, o—4, 1--C), <3—3, 7—5. .Miss Round defeated Miss Marble for the singles title. 6—2. 6-^2. In the mixed doubles 3erui-finals Miss Hound and Perry defeated van Ryn end Mrs. van Ryn, 6—4, B—6; and Miss Ryan and Vines defeated Miss Babcock and Stoefen, 4—6, (5—4, 6—4.
