OBITUARY.
MR A. W. GALLICHAN. The death occurred at Palmerston North on Thursday of a well-known district resident in Mr Arthur William Gallichan, aged GO. Born in London in 1873, lie arrived in New Zealand in the same year with his parents. After leaving school he was engaged in construction work on the Ashhurst Bridge When |the railway was being put through. He went to Australia for the contractors, Messrs Jones and Peters, and on his return represented Messrs Castcrdyk and Focke, Johnson and Co. a*d the Burton Brewery. Later he was with Messrs Barraud and Abraham for several years, and finally was in business for himself. T’he late Mr Gallichan was a prominent member of the Masonic Lodge (Iluia), the Palmerston North Bowling Chib, ' and for many years was connected with the Campbell Street (Central) School Committee. During the war he was Chairman of the Commercial Travellers’ Crusade for funds for comforts for the troops. Ho leaves a widow and family of one daughter and two sons, one of the latter being Mr |Normau Gallichan, the representative cricketer.
