KIMBERLEY WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
The Kimberley Hall, which has boon the rendezvous for many happy gatherings, was prettily decorated and comfortably furnished on the occasion the monthly meeting of the Kimberly Women’s Institute on Thursday afternoon last. The meeting opened with the singing of the Ode, after which apologies for absence from Alesdames Dittmer and R. Stratton were read. The President (Mrs Evans) then welcomed the members of the visiting institutes of Levin, Koputaroa, Ihakara and 'Poroutawhao. A cordial welcome was extended to Airs Kelso, secretary of the Dominion Federation and editor of “Home and Country,” who was presented with a charming posy by Airs Evans, on the occasion of this, her first visit. The gathering, which numbered over 100, enjoyed to the full a talk by Airs Kelso on the Dominion conference at Christchurch. During the afternoon various items were contributed by members of the Institute, as follows; Pianoforte solo. Airs A. Robinson; songs, Alesdames Mellor, Whitcombe, Capper, Gibbons and Robinson; recitations, Alesdames Pickering and R. Brown and Aliss Blackburn. A bountiful afternoon tea was daintily dispensed by the Committee, appreciation of which was heard on all sides. Two competitions arranged by Alesdames Crowe and Death were greatly enjoyed, the winners being Airs R. Gore and Aliss Allies. Airs Crowe reminded members and friends of the Cinderella dance to be held on Tuesday mext, August Sth. Mrs Mellor (vice-president) thanked (hose who had assisted her in the entertainment part of the programme and after a vote of thanks had been accorded Airs Kelso, the singing of the National Anthem brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
