SWIFT LONDON SUCCESS.

WORK OF YOUNG N.Z. DOCTOR. The Arts Theatre Club in Londop is no ordinary place of entertainment, London's leading actors and critics go there to see the latest thing first. “As It Was in the Beginning," which had its Arts Theatre premiere on June 13, was written by another new playwright, Dr. Merton Hodge. This young New Zealander has been only ten months in. London, where he went for his degree, and where he has a temporary hospital appointment. The plot of “A s It Was in the Beginning' » concerns a medical student who, leaving a girl behind goes to Edinburgh to study. Here he meets all types of men, has a love interlude with a woman, and returns at the end to his home and the girl. One copy of the play has been sent to New York, and arrangements are being made for its transfer to the West End about October.
