PERSONAL.
L. H. Collinson, of Palmerston North, Master of the Manawatu Hunt, who has been ill for some time, is now making good progress towards recovery. Mr Leslie Skerman, a well-known resident of Otaki, and formerly representative of Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., in that part of the district, jvas found dead in bed this morning, Mr J. Brown, of New Plymouth, has been re-elected chairman of the directors of the Maketawa Dairy Company, Limited, for the 37th successive year, which is believed to be a record in the history of co-operative dairying in New Zealand.
Mr J. Lowden, Inspector of Factories at Palmerston North, will shortly retire. Mr Lowden, prior to joining the Government service in 1915, was for 32 years foreman of a boot factory and later for a period with another Dunedin firm. He transferred to the Government service in the capacity of footwear expert and was at Dunedin for a short time prior to being transferred to 'Christchurch. Then followed a transfer to the West Coast, while 10 years ago he came north to •Palmerston North to take charge of the Labour Department office and now retires as a result of his having reached the retiring age.
