What many" Germans hailed as a glorious resurrection of the spirit of Potsdam was witnessed in a parade of 160,•000 of the “Steel Helmets,” concluding with a convention. The troops, •clad in the'field-grey uniforms of the old army, marched to the Templehof aerodrome, which was formerly an Imperial parade;ground. The streets were lined with cheering multitudes, of spectators, and buildings were decorated with the old Imperial colours. The ex-Crown Prince took the salute. The Chancellor, Dr. Ton Papen, was also present at the review, which was the most impressive since the days of the Kaiser. . SENTENCES COMMUTED. PRUSSIAN GOVERNMENT’S DECISION. _ BERLIN, Sept. 2. The Prussian Government has commuted the death sentences, on the Nazi, murderers of a Communist at Beuthen ito hard labour for life on the grounds that, they ihad no knowledge of the decree imposing the extreme penalty for acts of political terrorism, which lad only come into force a few hours Ibefore.
