Bus Driver Charged With Negligent Driving

SENT TO SUPREME COURT POR TRIAL MASTER TON, Last Night. The sequel to the level crossing accident which occurred on the evening of April 9, when a bus conveying a party of voung people to a dance at Ivaituna, was struck by the mail train from Wellington at Renall street, was heard in the Magistrate’s Court to-day when the driver of the bus, James Thomas Rutherford, appeared before Messrs, 8. L. P. Free and C.>M. Bodwen, J’sP., charged with negligently driving a motor vehicle thereby causing the death of Frank Muirhead Gillespie, a passenger in the bus.

Accused pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court in Wellington.
