EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE

REBUTTAL EVIDENCE IN WAIROA FREEZING WORKS CLAIM.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Friday.

Further evidence in rebuttal of the case for the defence was given this morning when the Supreme Court continued hearing of the claim for £77,850 by the Wairoa Farmers’ Meat Company against the New Zealand and Eagle, Star Insurance Companies. Continuing his evidence, Edmund Anscombe detailed the results of his examination of plaintiffs’ buildings, stating that the damage revealed in the photographs produced by the defence was largely caused by subsequent earthquakes on the buildings previously damaged by fire.
