CHEESECLOTH PANCAKES.
CHARLIE CHAPLIN FOOLED. LONDON, April 1. Mr Charlie Chaplin was nicely April-fooled ’’ while having luncheon 'with- his brother and a big party of friends’ at the Majestic Hotel, Nice. Charlie’s favourite dish “Crepes ■fiuzette,’’ headed the menu. These are fascinating little pancakes served in ~blazinfi rum. Charlie took three and promptly expatiated on the virtues of pancakes in various parts of the world. 4 ‘Try these, Charlie; I bet you never “tasted better,” said Sydney. Charlie «truggled with them for some time before he found they consisted ,of cheese--cloth covered with batter. Then he recalled the date. Presumably Charlie “noted the novel receipt for luncheon in his next film. Meanwhile, 4000 Florentines were by a newspaper which -announced in big headlines that Charlie “had arrived in Florence. Reporters and press photographers set off in search *of the comedian, and crowds collected wherever he was, likely to be seen for diours before they realised the truth.
