LADIES’ GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.
MISS KAY MEETS MISS GAISFORD IN FINAL.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. In the semi-finals of the ladies’ golf championship this morning, Miss Kay beat Mrs Spiers 4 and 3, Miss Gaisford beat Miss Loughnan 5 and 4. GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP. FIRST STAGE TO-MORROW, (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. The stage is now set for the New Zealand Golf Championship meeting which opens at the Hokowhitu Links on Friday. To-day a match is being played between amateurs and professionals, although not officially connected with the championship. It consist of a four-ball in the morning and singles this afternoon. After heavy rain last night it was doubtful at first if play would take place but the rain cleared although a heavy gale is blowing, L. D‘. Hurst (Miramar) has withdrawn his entry for the open championship and will be replaced by J. R. L. Maekay (Timaru) while O. Anderson fills the vacancy created by R. George (Auckland) who is unable to play.
