The severest floods for 30 years have occurred in Monmouthshire, West Wales and the West Country as a result of continued rain. The rivers are overflowing, houses in a number of areas have been inundated six or seve?i feet and boats are plying in the streets and fields. Thousands of workers have been rendoied idle. An army of rats, driven from the sewers, invaded parts of Swansea. The householders are alarmed and are barricading the houses at night time.
