LEVIN A. AND P. SHOW.
A VARIETY OF COMPETITIONS - i The continuation of warn weather gives hopes for the setting-in of a fine spell that will favour the Horowhenua A. and P. Association's 23rd annual Show, to be held on the Levin Show- £ rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 29th and 30th. All features of the function are attractive to the public, but some of them make a special appeal' to the sporting instincts. This is especially the case with ths various horse competitions, in which the best amateur blood of this and surrounding districts is displayed. Additional events that will make a strong appeal this year , arc the steer-riding contests and the motor-cycle race. For the former numerous promise.-! of support have, been received, and th tilling are expected to be given on both days of the Show. The motorcycling event, of five mile.s, will be" open to amateur riders of this district, and it will doubtless provide many entrants with a useful try-otit both for themselves and their machines. Another item, one which h popular every year, is that known as the shoi-p-dog trials, in which the almost human powers of the trained canine mind are demonstrated to great advantage. This subject suggests the presence of another big feature, namely the DogShow, i'or which entries close at 5 p.m. to-tiuHTOw. ' Fcr it* educative value this is one of the outstanding departments of the whole exhibition.
Altogether the 1929 fixture promises to eclipse all its predecessors as a source of all-round interest, and the attendance should be record-breaking.
