PARTY NEARLY SUFFOCATED. FURTHER DAMAGE IN BARRALIER DISTRICH. A BLAZE WITH 50-MILE FRONT. (By Telegraph-Press Assn. -Copyright.) (Received This Bay, 10.40 a,m.) SYDNEY. This Day. A Barralier message states that live men who were, trapped in a hut by busk fires, which were “aided by a strong wind, eventually reached safety in a half-suffocated state.
Flames raced through the district, which was missed by extensive blazing a few days ago. All available men are now, fighting the outbreak. • Already the damage is great, and Rock Lily and Mountain View stations are gravely threatened. A fire with a front of 50 miles is raging in the Abercrombie Mountains. Owing to the inaccessibility of the country, the fire will probably burn until rain falls. Extensive damage has been done.
