LEVIN METHODIST CHURCH.
The quarterly meeting in connection with the Levin Methodist Church, was held on Wednesday evening, when the Rev. Wm. Beckett presided over a good a tendance. "
The general routine busines? was engaged in, and reports of various departments were received.
The balance sheet, which was! adopted, disclosed that the tinanpes were good, the debit balance having been further reduced during the quarter. The Foreign Missionary report showed that £124 had been raised during the year, this being £4 more than last year, for which all-.were grateful and words pf appreciation were spoken. Miss Astridge was unanimously reelected secretary of this department for the ensuing year. The Homo Missions were not quite so good as last year. The returns, are not yet complete. Mr W. Walker was re-elected secretary. The officers spoke of the work being done in the Sunday School, where; more teachers are needed. The attendance of scholars is the highest on record for the school, and finances are good. The Anniversary services were preached by the Minister, Mr Beckett, and both services were largely attended. The work in the primary department is well maintained. Extensive preparations have been made for the picnic which is to take place on Anniversary Day, and a good time if anticipated.
Mr J. W. Gibson was elected to the Methodist Conference, which will be held in Auckland next month. Mr P. W. Goldsmith was nominated substitute.
On Sunday morning next, an “Old Peoples” service is to be held, when Mr Beckett will preach an appropriate sermon, and it is hoped that fine weather, there will be a large gathering.
