The Channel swimmers, Ivy Hawkes, »f Brighton, and Frank Perks, of Birmingham, left Cape Grisnez at 9.47 p.m. and 10.2 pan., respectively, on Saturday. Perks soon overtook Miss Hawkes, but.-gave up at 8.7 a.m. to-day, five.miles from England. Miss Hawkes was successful, and landed at St. Margaret's Bay at 5.30 p.m., after being nearly 20 hours in the water. The swim was carried out under official supervision. -
