PEATIIBRSTON, This Day., The Featherston Chamber of Commerce passed the following resolution at its last meeting:—“That this Chamber views with the greatest concern the growing immorality of the present day, and calls on all proprietors and custodians of halls to exercise ho greatest care to ensure the safety of young girls.” A number of members spoke strongly, expressing the greatest alarm at the present-day trend of events. Short skirts, drinking at dances and in motor cars, and lack of parental control were amongst the things cited as causes of the present-day state of affairs.
