TROUT-FISHING SEASON
AN AUSPICIOUS OPENING.

A Levin man during an hour caught five,, the best of which weighed about 2a lbs Fie describes the stream as teeming with trout. The Pahaatanui stream also provided good fishing, a catch of 17 being reported from there. Some big catches were made in the Otf.ki river, two anglers returning with 18 and 13 respectively from the lower reaches. The fish weighed up to 4 lbs and were of excellent quality. .Five large trout were also reported to have been taken from the upper reaches of the Otaki.

Shannon is also proving a favourable centre to work from, and the catches include 13 oy a couple, of boys fishing in the Mangaore stream.
