PERSONAL.

Between 20 and 30 friends of Mr H. E. Keys, who have been associated with him in church choral matters, paid him a surprise visit last night for the purpose of assuring him of their goodwill and making him a presentation iu recognition of the time and trouble he had devoted to the work. A most enjoyable evening was spent in games, music and competitions. Songs were contributed by Mrs Devine, Mr J. D. BiWn, Mr A. Mottershead, and Mr A. Cameron and a duet by Mrs Devine and Mr Brown. On behalf of the assembled company, Mr Mottershead spoke of the regard in which they had always held Mr Keys, and handed him a suitable gift as a tangible token of their esteem. Mr Keys, in acknowledgement, replied that it gave Mrs Keys and himself great pleasure to welcome their friends and he thanked them for their gift and expressions of friendship. A happy little gathering was brought to a close by the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
