The foundation stone of the new maternity home ifor the Palmerston North Hospital Board is to be laid by the Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, on Monday afternoon, at 2 p.m. All who arc interested are invited to attend.

A beautiful display of choice narcissi blooms is being made to-day by Madame <de Roux. These magnificent specimens come from Mr Burns, of Wanganui, and orders are being taken for bulbs for delivery next January. The whole collection is reasonably priced and within the scope of the small gardener.

The dredge Maui, recently overhauled at Auckland and now hired to the Marine Department for work at Westport, cost many thousands of pounds to repair. She asked to be informed of the board’s attitude towards her proposed action. One member proposed that a hearty letter of congratulation be sent to the lady concerned, a sufgestion that was greeted with laughter and acted on with enthusiasm. It was decided to notify the teacher that her marriage did not necessarily interfere with her position as teacher.

lii the youth of the Dominion is the great hope of the future, and though there are many disquieting phases of modern life, the Bible Class movements up and klown the country are prosperous and exerting a very high influence upon young men and women through their classes and camps. The Methodist Church of New Zealand is not behind other churches in this great forward movement, and in this connection Miss Lorna Ilodder, travelling secretary of Young Women’s Bible Class, will visit the local class on Sunday next. On Sunday evening there will be a special young people’s rally at which Miss Ilodder will give the address. Miss Chalk will sing a solo and Misses Astridge and Hutton a duet. The morning subject of the Rev. J. D.' McArthur will be taken from the Sermon on the Mount, “Ye are. the salt of the earth.” .The choir and congregation will sing Jackson’s To Deum.
