Mr C. H, W. Nieolls has been elected to fill the vacancy on the Wellington Education Board due to the death of Mr Fred Pirani. ‘ Mr. and Mrs. W. Bassett, who have ' been residents of Otaki for the past ■ 18 years, during which time they have • made many friends, intend to take up I residence in Christchurch, Mr. and > Mrs. Bassett were for many years eusL todian and matron for the Greytown hospital, being appointed in June 1897. While at this institution they did much, good work, and proved very popular. In 1908 they left ,to take up a position with the Wellington Hospital Board, and have had a continuous service of nearly thirty years. During the -whole of that time they have worked faithfully and well, and their many Otaki friends will regret to learn that they are leaving the district.
