I3ACON PIGS JN DEMAND

The first fortnightly sale for th a winter season was hold yesterday in the presence of a largo attendance.

There was a heavy yarding of pigs, especially of weaners and stores, but the former showed a stoep decline on tho rates obtaining at the last sale. Somo of tho weaners were on the small side, though there was fuir competition for all the entries at the prices realised, the best sorts bringing up to 16/ and 17/6. Stores mad© better bale, and prices ranged from £1, £1 •}/, up to £1 17/ and, £2 12/. The entry of porkers and baconers was not Mioli an oven one as wcro forward at last sale, lmfc the demand was keen, nud a brisk Kale resulted for the whole of the entry at an advance on previour rates, porkers bringing from £4 up to £4 15/ and £5, and baooners to £6 I

There was a medium entry of sheep,, which easily reached lat-e market rates, the sale being an improvement ou last sale, and. a clearance was praotically effected ot all lines. Fat wethers reached 81/ up to 35/3, fat owes from 27/ to 32/, 2 and 4-tootl> wethers 32/1, 2 and 4-tooth ewes 24/y, woolly lambs 18/10 to £1 1/, mixedhox hoggets 15/1 to 19/6, and ewe 'loggets 19/ and 21/.

The demand for dairy stock was very slack. August and September calvers failed, to make much competition, though a few galos were effected at £10. There was a little better inquiry for cows at the drop, soim changing hands at .510 10/ up to £11 1 n!. Tho best prices of tho day were £22 10/ and £20 for two exceptional typos of the milker, coming into early profit, the former price boing secured by Mr Lenihan, of Heathorlea, and the latter by Mr P. O'Keofe, of I.evin.

la fat stock thero was u fair yarding, a good line of bullocks realising Cl 2 18/, though a pen oP prime was passed in at £15 15/. Fat tows brought up to £8 5/ and £9, and. vfilers £4 2/(3.

There was a considerable entry of store cattle, but no doubt largoly influenced by the feed probl-om, there was little inquiry and few untr et, changed bands.
