The authorities think there is every indication that tho near future will see a recrudescence here of tho influenza epidemic. During tho past two days there have been 23 notifications in Canterbury and Westland health districts. Of these five are cases of influenzal pneumonia, two of them being severe. In South Canterbury during tho samo period, there were eight notifications, two of which are pneumonia. Dr Fox, superintendent of the C'liHatel) urcli hospital, stated tc-day that there had been of late a number of cases of influenzal pneumonia in the hispital. and one death. He had no doubt whatever that these cases were the same type as t'hose of last November.
