Cornwall, Miss M, Treneman; delegates to combined clubs meeting, Messrs. Leicester, Duncan, Fergusson, Butler, Millar and joint secretaries; representative to centre, Mr. D. J. S. Millar; postponement committee, Messrs. Lindsay, Estaugh and Riley.

An enthusiastic meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman, Mr. E. F. Leicester.

Some very promising form is being shown at the baths. B. Christie, now in senior ranks, will bear elose watching as he has jumped right into strict training. F. Russell, in the diving, if he holds his form, should make many local champions look to their laurels. Joe Heffernan has not been seen yet, but should be putting in an appearance very shortly. The McCracken brother and sister, still competing junior, should more than hold their own in their respective classes, as also should W. Pankhurst, junior diver. Both W. Coates and C. Eves have left the district, and A. Christie has been forced to withdraw from competition. It is to be hoped that the Henry Williams Memorial Cup will be put into round competition, as this would prove a great stimulus to water polo in the district. With fine weather, swimming standards will undoubtedly improve in Hawke's Bay, and it is pleasing to note that the centre is endeavouring to assist in the national “Learn-to-Swim” week.

ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report was as follows:— “Your committee has pleasure in reporting another season safely passed. It is entirely due to the loyal co-opera-tion of the swimmers that this is so. as owing to the bad prevailing weather throughout the season stand attendances were uniformly poor. Again it was the old Ironsides and the young school children to whom we must offer our thanks.

I’inauce.—lt will be recalled that at our last annual general meeting tne was 111 a sound nnaneial position. Hus past season did nut promise to improve the position to any great extent, and in view of this it was decided to retrench wherever possible until such time as there was a briguter outlook. The carrying out of this policv lias resulted in the club now being in approximately the same financial position as at the beginning of the season. ‘Provincial Championships.—Once again our club was well represented in good fields, and all classes of competiac 9 u^f^e d themselves well. “Polo —-The polo team retained the Henry Williams Memorial Cup unchallenged. Several inter-club games were contested most enjoyably. , vln £.”O ur thanks are again due to Mr. Rigby for his untiring efforts in encouraging diving and swimming amongst the school pupils. A most pleasing feature is the large fields in the learners’ diving eients. These learners will soon be our junior and senior divers, and should be given every encouragement. Rainbow bhield.— We must congratulate out swimmers and divers on t.ie. splendid performances in this competition. One and all strui e tiieir utmost to annex the shield. The result was that the club was leading until the final competition, when the honours were to the Heretaunga club by a sm.ul margin. Tho chief weakness in these competitions appears to bo a shortage of lady competitors, and it is time that keener interest and

larger fields were seen in their events. “Press.—We again thank the Press for their valuable assistance. “It was with regret that we learnt during the season of the departure of our president, Mr. P. H. Leigh, and our announcer and public school hi admaster, Mr. N F. Rigby. Both Mr. Leigh and Mr Rigby served the club raithfuily, the former as secretary, treasurer and president, the latter as announcer and school children’s organiser. U'he announcement of the death of Mr. D. Inglis came as a great shock to all of the committee and club members. Mr Inglis was a foundation member of this club, and up to the time of his departure from Havelock North was a familial and keen competitor at every carnival.”
