WATER CONSUMPTION

Continued Increase Noted

The consumption of water in Hastings continues to increase and last month 1,325,000 gallons were consumed in excess of that for the same month last year according to the monthly statistics'provided the Hastings Borough Council last evening by the Borough Engineer (Mr. C. E. Evans) when reporting on the quantity of water putnped. He said that last month a total of 35,325,000 gallons of water were pumped compared with 34,000,000 twelve months ago, the rainfall for the periods mentioned being 1.17 inches and 2.06 inches respectively. The Havelock North Town Board pumped 98,000 gallons in excess of their own requirements. To date there were 3470 water connections, 13 water and 15 sewer connections having been laid during the month.
