SCHOOL BUILDINGS

Increased Grant For Maintenance

WELCOMED BY THE BOARD

The substantial increase of £3020 is shown in the grant made to the Hawke’s Bay Education Board by th# Education Department for the maintenance of school buildings for the year ended March 31, 1937. The total grant amounts to £7688, as against £4668 for last year. At to-day’s meeting of the board the chairman, Mr G. A. Maddison, pointed out that the increased amount would give the board a greater opportunity of currying on its work more efficiently. Arrears up to August 13 had now been paid and in a short time all of the schools in the whole area would be repainted. A vote of thanks Was passed to the Minister for the grants tn be made for the current year.
