Delegation from EnglishSpeaking Union

ON VISIT TO HASTINGS A delegation from the Dominion headquarters at Wellington of tho English-Speaking Union arrived in Hastings last evening at the invitation of the recently loimed Hawke’s Bay branch of the union and they will be entertained at a series of gatherings before their return to-morrow.

The visitors include Mr Black, who is the guest of Dr and Mrs K. E. Crompton, of Havelock North, Mesdames Hay McKenzie, Grood and Preston, and Miss Black, and they were all the guests of Mrs Coles, of Havelock North, at morning tea this morning.

This afternoon there was a public reception at the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ tearooms tendered by the Hawke’s Bay branch, of which Mrs A. de Castro is president. At this gathering Mr Black gave an address on the aims and ambitions of the union.

This evening the visitors are to be entertained at a complimentary dinner in Napier. The objective of the visit of the delegation is to give an impetus to the movement, which is Empire-wide in its scope, in this part of the Dominion.
