Government Acquires Station

in Auckland NO SHORT-WAVE YET By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, stated to-day that he expected that the first commercial radio station in the Dominion would be in operation within a fortnight, as it was possible to acquire one of the Auckland B stations and he saw no practical difficulty with respect to the question of staff.

With regard to a short-wave station for oversea transmission, he was unable to state definitely when it would be established. There was so much to do in connection with racjio policy that a breathing space must be allow the Government.
