ENLISTING FOR SPAIN
British Disapproval
LONDON, September 2
The Government is considering steps to prevent Britishers enlisting for service in Spain. The “Morning Post’e” political correspondent says that the Crown law officer’s report on the Government’s existing powers to prevent enlistment will probably come before Cabinet to-day. The Foreign Enlistment Act prevented Britishers participating in the Italo-Abyssiuian war, but at present it is uncertain whether the Act could be applied to a civil war.
The Government is reported to be seriously perturbed by the recent reports about the number of Britishers fighting with the Spanish Government forces, and the insurgents especially.
