Mar aetotara-Waimarama The Maraetotara-Wainiaraina Women’s Institute members met at “Te Aratipi,” lor the Juno meeting. Though weather conditions were adverse, the attendance was quite good. Mrs. Thom was in the chair. Alter opening with the institute song, discussion followed on the subject of the institute entering the Drama festival. Nothing was finally decided, though all were keen to enter. A proposal that the amount per member when there was a presentation to anyone leaving the district should De reduced from 1/- to Gd was made and married The winner of the potato competition was Mrs. Thom, with 13Albs. Through donations and money from bridge evenings, quite a satisfactory sum was raised to swell the votes on the two institute babies in the plunket competition. “A recipe for a hot savoury constituted the roll call and most of th members seemed to know of something tasty. The lest of the afternoon was devoted to a talk on “Gardening,” by Mr. I’. F. Hunter, which keenly interested all .It was a most instructive and helpful talk, mil ot valuable advice for the practical gardener. Mrs. Elliot proposed a vote of thanks, and afternoon tea served by Mesdair.es Stewart and rtiggir was then enjoyed by all. An amusing competition concerning cigarettes was won by Mrs. Stewart. The meeting then ended with the singing of tile national Anthem.
