MOTOR REGISTRATION
Hastings Figures Show Increase POST OFFICE STILL BUSY Despite tbo fact that the falling of the King's Birthday does not now af. fo»d the same guide as it did it tho past fur many car-owners to make sure that their registrations were completed before the end of the licensing year, the number ef vehicles registered at the Hastings Post Office up to and including Saturday last shows a very fair increase on last year’s figures. The total number of vehicles registered this year, came to 2q36, which is 240 mure than twelve months ago, when the aggregate was 2296 vehicles. The increase is general in all classes, as indicated by the following table showing the registrations for the main classes for the two years under consideration :— ’
Included in the miscellaneous heading are dealers cars and in this connection it is interesting to note that whereas last year only 17 D plates were issued this year 34, or exactly 100 per eent. increase, were issued. It would seem that business in the motor business, with particular reference to the •elling* department, is brisk. Yesterday, the first day ot the new licensing year, was an exceptionally busy one at the Post Office and well over 200 belated registrations came to hand. It. is expected that the present week will continue to be a fairly busy one, and for that reason it is not the intention of the officials to vacate their present temporary quarters to resume the normal order of things in the meantime.
