ARTS AND CRAFTS CIRCLE

Between 30 and 40 members were present at the meeting of the arts and crafts circle of the Hastings Townswomen’s Guild which was held in the W.D.I'.U. rooms yesterday alternoon, and all spent a most interesting and instructive two hours. Mrs M. H. Cohen, the circle leader, was in the chair and with her was the secretary, Mrs A. C. A. Hyde. Three demonstrators were present, each choosing an entirely different subject. Mrs C. P. Hopkins showed the members how to cut out a shirt, Mrs B. Goldfinch explained the art of recovering an umbrella, and Mrs Kittermaster explained how to make a woollen tea cosy and a nest to fit the cosy and teapot into All three demonstrations proved to be of great interest and the members decided to put into practice what they had learnt and have a competition next month for the best covered umbrella.

A very hearty vote cf thanks was pu.-ea to Mesdames Hopkins, Goldfinch and Kittermaster for providing such a splendid programme
