CROSSING ACCIDENT

Inquest Date Not Fixed No date has yet been fixed for the resumption of the inquest into the deaths of Reginald John Garratt and William John Lamason, who were the victims of the railway crossing accident near Awatoto on March 2 last. The police are waiting until the condition of Mr Lionel Stevens is sufficiently improved to enable him to attend the inquiry and give evidence. Mr Stevens, who was the driver of the car which was struck by the night train, is still a patient at the Napier Hospital. Messrs Harry Mercer and Robert Magill, who were also severely injured in the accident, are progressing favourably. Mr Merger is still in hospital however
