FINE EFFICIENCY

Jubilee Celebrations of “Pirates” SMALL COST TO CLUB The golden jubilee of the Pirate Football Club, Napier, held during Easter, eost the club only £lO. Considering that 400 present and past members of the club were entertained, this speaks volumes for the efficiency of the club’s executive, and for the enthusiastic support given by all club members. Eight years ago a special jubilee fund was started, which had in it the sum of £GO when the celebrations began at Easter. The executive anticipated that all this money would be spent on the fiftieth birthday party, and probably some of fhe club’s general funds as well. But by keeping a businesslike eye on the arrangements, with a view to making everything pay for itself if possible, the special jubilee fund still has £5O iu it, and no call has been made on the club’s general account. The reunion smoko concert on Easter Saturday night was attended by 363 past and piesent “Pirates” and their friends. The club’s executive has received many favourable comments upon the excellent manner in which this function was organised and conducted. The catering for so large a number of people is no easy matter, and yet there was not one cause for complaint. Many of the visiting past. members of the club expressed their delight at the enthusiasm shown by present members. Some said that it was most refreshing to return to their old. club after a long period of years, to find that the old enthusiasm still remained. Taking all things info consideration, the Pirate Football (Hub is deserving of high praise for the organisation and carrying into effect so big and so successful a golden jubilee.
