DESTROYER ESCORT

Japanese Pearlers Off North

Australia

(Received 23, 10.25 a.m.) DARWIN, April 23.

Reports from several independent sources have been received that a destroyer is acting as escort and guard to 59 Japanese pearling schooners operating in Territorial waters. Many divers are emphatic that they are not confusing this destroyer with the motor-ships which bring supplies to the divers, as one supply ship always remains with the fleet while the other takes away the shell.
