McCready and Mehringer I'lic Hawke’s Bay Wrestling Association is to be congratulated on their good fortune in securing such exponents us Earl McCready and Veto Mehringer for their opening match of the new season in the Hastings Municipal Theatre on Friday night. As this is the first meeting of these two men on the mat, and as McCready hus such a series of victories to his credit, and Mehringer has a splendid American record of wins, much interest is centred throughout the Dominion on the result of this tussle.
Many students of form forecast the stemming of McCready’s conquering march. Mehringer it is said, has filled more headlines in the Press of America than the President himself. His scrapbook tells its own story—“All-Ameri-can football star and forefront object of the wrestling word, he hasl been for some years now one of the most prominent athletes in the U.S.A. Since tuning professional after winning Olympic championship honours in 1932, Mehringer has Buffered only one defeat, and that by the renowned ‘Strangler’ Lewis. ’ ’
The match between these two promises all the necessary thrills and should provide a never-to-be-forgotten battle for supremacy. Prices are as usual, and patrons are requested to note that the preliminaries start at 8.15 p.m. because of Friday being late shopping night. The best seats may be booked at Hall’s bookshop.
