RECEPTION IMPROVES
The residence of Kir hi. Mulgrove, Miller street, was the scene of another well-attended meeting el the Hastings branch oi the New Zealand DA Hamu Association on Monday night last. Most of the members reported gooo reception over the Easter vacation, this being "topped” by one member taking reports on 20 stations during the week-end, and, a s his log is nearb a double century, this is no mean feat. American and Australian stations have improved wonderfully, and various new leggings have been made.
An unofficial letter was received from the new president of the association, Mr N. C. -Manchester, replying to various points raised. The proposed association blazer is now an accepted fact, and will soon be on sale to members.
In future the annual general meeting of the association is to take the iorm of a conference and will rotate around the various centres. Next year’s conference is to be held at Christchurch. The method of voting is to be changed, one delegate up to three lor every 2U members.
It was decided at the meeting of the Hastings branch that any member who is absent for three consecutive meetings and does not present a reasonable excuse will be debarred from participating in the competition running for three months.
It has been decided to approach headquarters of the association and ask whether it would be possible to take action to have frequency tests instituted in New Zealand and Australia, as some of the stations are more often than not off their frequency.
A letter was received Irom an interested listener, who wrote stating his appreciation of the talks given over 2ZL and requesting information. The secretary was instructed to write and thank him. One new member was admitted, and the branch joined in wishing him great success at the hobby. At present the Hastings branch has the upper hand on the Wellington branch in the branch log race, and the position at present is: Hastings 400, Wellington 396. A further good numbei ol verifies tions were added to the club’s total tor the most-verifications race between the Waipukurau branch of the DX Club and the Hastings branch of the Radio Association.
Competition results were: — Best verification.—Mr N. Mulgrove, \\ LAC Nashville. Most verifications.—Mr L. Evans, 5. Best verification in zones.—American. Mr Mulgrove 1 and 2, WLAC and KVI • Mr Bott 2, KTRB. Australian. Mr G. Lys 1,2 AD; Messrs J. Walker and G Lys 2,3 MB; Mr G. Bott 3, 4WK. For ths Bendigo Trophy, the position is the same as given for the Australian zone.
Listeners are advised that VK 2KV, operating on 1370 k.c., will broadcast a special programme at the end of the month Full particulars will be broadcast over station 2ZL as soon as they come to hand.
