RICCARTON GALLOPS
Numerous Horses at Work (By Telegraph-Press Association,) CHRISTCHURCH. April 9. The weather, though dull in the eatiy part, was fine for training at Riccarton this morning. Most of the work was done on the outside of the course proper and some useful gallops were witnessed. Sky Pilot went half a mile in 49 4-5. Impersonator, running along the back did half a mile in 50 2-5. Moonbeam and Tout le Monde went off at a usetul pace from the nine furlongs post, sprinting the last half-mile in 50secs., while Emissary did half a mile along the back without being hurried. Impossible ran the last four of six furlongs in 50 2-5. McHeath moved freely over a mile. Great Star and Grand Review were given useful tasks. Orris and Sovereign Lady ran six furlongs in 1.18 1-5, which Culotte equalled, while Chidden took 1.45 2-5 for the last mile of nine furlongs. Pelmet and Custos were on terms at
the end of five furlongs run in 1.2 3-5— a useful effort. Gustos pulled up well. Riptide and Execution alter the first half-mile in 50 3-5 completed the mile in 1.41. Coxcomb and Cyrillion took 1.4 2-5 fqr five furlongs, Passenger and Golden Glow doing similar time. Concert Pitch was going well at the end of seven furlongs with Cranford in 1.29 3-5. Latitude led The Surgeon and Rona Bay over a mile and a-quarter iu 2.12 2-5. The last mile took 1.44. Argentic finished strongly a length in front of Riposte after six furlongs run in 1.15 1-5. Argentic it iu perfect order. Final Shot cleared out from Tunneller at the end of a mile, which she ran in 1.43 1-5 after the first half taking Slsecs. It was a very good gallop for the former. Fair Weather was with Emmeline Girl and Epic at the finish of half a mile along the buck in 39 3-5. Violenta bea,t Swordstick over five furlong* in 1.2. Arrow Glen, assisted by Frontage, ran half a mile in 51 2-5. Wild Chase had Top Notch for a mate over six furlongs on the plough in 1.16, a performance which Fracaa and Paper Slipper equalled. Sea Fox and Dollar Bill went six lurlongs on the plough, taking JJ9 2-5 lor the last three. , Sir Hugh beat Bylaw over half * mile on No. 6 track in 49 1-5. Silver Slipper dashed over five furlongs on tho No. 6 track in 1.1 4-5, Pink "oily doing half a mile in 51. Knockfin, with Rebel Chief as a mate over the first , part, ran three furlongs on the plough in 37aecs., finishing six furlongs in 115 2-5. Davolo and Colombo did easy work on the plough. Hounslow and Wrenford Bridge jumped tlia two brush hurdles twice.
