Another Little Colonel “MARK OF ZORRO” AGAIN When Victor McLaglen made Freddie Bartholomew-, his co-star in “Professional Soldier,” an honorary colonel in his own Light Horse Cavalry Troop, Freddie was pleased at getting no higher rank. “It gives me n chance to work my way up” explained the little British star. “Professional Soldier” is a 20th Century picture to be released by Fox Film Corporation. * -a ■» “Mark of Zorro,” to be produced as a romantic operetta by 20th Cen-tury-Fox, will have Lawrence Tib’rtt singing the lead. Rights to the story were acquired by Darryl F. Zanuck for 20th Century-Fox, from Douglas Fairbanks. Lawrence Tibbett sings tn the leading role of “Metropolitan,” now being released in New Zealand. * * * Julie Haydon will play in her first motion picture role since her pheno menal success in “The Scoundrel” with Noel Coward, in Paramount’s “Too Many Parents.” In addition, Frances Farmer, recently placed unde: contract by Paramount, will have an important part in this picture. Samuel S. Hinds, Porter Hall and Colin Tapley are also in the cast, which includes David Holt, Billy Lee and a number of Paramount starlets. * * * Cary Grant is scheduled to play the masculine lead in Paramount’s “Florida Special,” which Ralph Murphy will direct. Lynne Overman will have an important comedy role in this production. * * * Carole Lombard, Paramount phiyet in “Concertina,” with George Raft, is one of the few stars in Hollywood who prefers to drive her own car. She owns a light coupe which she drives to Paramount and uses when she goes ou shopping trips. * * * Colin Tapley, originally of Dunedin, New Zealand, has secured a new contract from Paramount.
