“THE GREAT DIVIDE”
A film unit will start shortly for Canada from the Gaumont-British Studios at Shepherd’s Bush to make exterior scenes for “The Great Divide,” a story of the building of the mighty Canadian Pacific Railway. The film will be directed by Geoffrey Barkas, the G.B. expert who was responsible for the magnificent Rhodesian “location” scenes in “Rhodes of Africa,” to be released in the near future. Air Barkas and his production unit, with Richard Arlen, the Hollywood star, as their principal actor, will visit historic Canadian Pacific locations in Canada. They will actually work on the original permanent-way at Rogers’ Pass high in the Canadian Rockies, where the line was originally laid and through which it ran until a dive: sion was made in recent, years. An Indian attack on a covered wag> gon train, in which several film players participated, is one of the big moments in “Silly Billies,” Wheeler and Woolsey’s latest comedy for RKO Radio.
