Dr. Wilton Henley, formerly of Napier and now of England, a Rhodes scholar, was the guest of honchir nt yesterday’s luncheon of the Napier Rotary Club.

Charge-nurse Hoben, a member of the nursing staff of the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board, has been appointed to take charge of the men’s surgical ward at the Hastings Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.

Miss L. M. Croft, matron of the Napier Hospital, is to attend the annual conference at Christchurch of the New Zealand Registered Nurses’ Association and tho matrons’ conference. These are to be held from April 14 to 17. .

Mr Malcolm Cameron, of Hastings, left yesterday morning for Christchurch, whither he has been transfored as a member of the Public Trust Office. Mr Cameron’s departure from Hastings will mean a great loss in sporting circles of the town.

Miss L. McDonald, senior typist on the staff of the Hastings Borough Council, tendered her resignation at the meeting of tho council last night in view of her approaching marriage. Tribute was paid by the Mayor, Mr G. A. Maddison, of the good service given by Miss McDonald during her nine and a half years on the staff and the council accepted tho resignation and voted her a month’s leave on full pay in recognition of her valuable services'.

Dr. J. A. Wilson, of Auckland, has been promoted from surgeon lieuten-ant-commander to surgeon-commander in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, in which he was the first medical officer to be appointed. Dr. Watson arrived in New Zealand in H.M.B. Laburnum from Plymouth in 1921, and served in her for the three following years. Retiring from the active list in 1925, ho underwent special medical courses in London, and then returned to Auckland to enter practice.
