In the account of, an address on “Pioneer Women” given recently at the Hastings Townswomen’s Guild. Miss Cruickshanks was named as the first woman doctoi in New Zealand It has, however, been found that M.S* Emily Seidcberg, of Dunedin was tbe first and Aliss Cruickshanks the second The people of Waimate especially remembered Aliss Cruickshanks, as she practised in this district and gave her life for the people in the 1918 epidemic. The people have erected' a public memorial in remembrance of her work.
