LIPSTICK LORE
It is now quite general for modern young wotnen to use a lipstick. Older folk may regard it as shocking, but such a attitude is looked on as oldfashioned by young people. Some girls use lipstick discreetly; others don’t To see a scarlet gash where a mouth should be offends many more than oldfashioned people. Men, as a rule, do not like lipstick, but if it is used with discretion, it sometimes improves a girl’s appearance. Choose a lipstick with as natural a colouring as possible. One with a faintly orange tint looks better on the lips than a Vermillion one. If you have a large mouth with generous lines, wield your stick well within its limits to bring down its pro-
portions. Very few people can take their lipstick out to the corners of the mouth. Don’t give the lower lip much colour, otherwise you will have a sullen look. The girl with a small mouth can, however, outline it with colour right to the sides and top curves, and thin lips may even need shaping to beyond the edges.
