After careful consideration of ap-p'i.-ations for the position of Town Clerk, the Mount Eden Borough Council deci ,: - 1 to make no appointment, but to advertise again, increasing the salary offerer, by £lOO, and making it £6OO.
A special meeting of the council was held to consider thv appointment, discussion being taken in committee. Over 50 applications had been received for the position Only two Aucklanders had made application.
