INNINGS VICTORY
The Australian Cricketers
WESTERN PROVINCES GAME (Received 3, 10.15 a.m.) CAPETOWN, Dec. 2. The Australian cricketers defeated Western Provinces by au innings and 41 ruus.
The weather was fine aud warm today. The wicket had patches at both ends, and the ball popped up disconcertingly. Eingleton’s 53 occupied 167 minutes. McCabe batted brightly, while O’Brien and Darling were never comfortable lacing Robertson, the slow right-hand off-break bowler. Almost every batsman who attempted liberty with Robertson’s apparently simple deliveries paid the penalty. Robertson is almost certain now to be chosen for the first test. Western Provinces opened the second innings disastrously, and the side never recovered. Bond played perfect cricket. The Australian fielding was brilliant, and Barnett’s wicket-keeping was faultless. Fleetwood-Smith again had all the Africans guessing, and finished with a fine figure. Scores: — AUSTRALIA. First Innings. McCabe, c Napier b Robertson ... 29 Fingleton, c Giantz b Crisp 53 Brown, st.
