NEW ARTESIAN WELL

Steady progress has been made with the drilling of the new artesian well on the corner of McVay street and Nelson Crescent, Napier, and a depth of 180 feet has now been reached. The authorities expect that it will bo necessary to reach 280 feet before a sufficient flow of water will be obtained. As slimmer advances, the demand for water in Napier increases; last year, lor instance, over a period the consumption was more than 3,000,000 gallons a day, and during the last few weeks 2.000.000 gallons a day has been reached.
