OLD TUTAEKURI RIVERBED

Tenders are to be invited for the lease of the area that is a section of the old Tutaekuri riverbed, between the Napier Boys’ High School and the Maraenui Golf Course, The future use of the section is a problem which is engaging the attention of the Napier Harbour Board, as owners of the land, and this has induced tenders to be Invited for the lease of the area. It hag been suggested that the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation Society might profitably interest itself in the riverbed, erect dams at either end of the stretch concerned in the lease, and fill the course with water from an artesian well supply, using the waterway for the breeding of trout. The breeding ground would be very easily accessible to the officers of the association, and would provide ample space for tho raising of as large a supply of smell fish as desired. Plans of the riverbed are to be prepared by Mr G. Rochfort.
