Ewe Hoggets in Demand SIX-YEAR EWES TO 17/5 As in tlic cattle aud fat sheep sections, a smaller entry came forward in the store sheep section at yesterday's sale at Waipukurau. The entry was a mixed one, but competition was again keen, with ewe hoggets and some of the ewe lines selling at rates which showed an advance in values. The sale throughout was spirited, and all but a few inferior lines of old ewes met good inquiry. As will be seen from the following selection of entries and prices paid, ow’e hoggets made up to 21/9, and six-year-old ewes to 17/5. Good wether hoggets sold at 17/-. — A .draft of 133 whiteface wether lambs, small and light, realised 12/1 from a 9/- start. A line of 140 four and five-year-old ewes, run with Southdown rams from March 1, hardy sheep, mixed in the wool, with strong qualities predominating, fairly framed, soundly mouthed and store conditioned, made 22/-. A pen of 240 whiteface wether hoggets, medium framed, fairly well woolled, and carrying goou store to forward order, sold at 17/-. A pen of 90 blackface wether hoggets, small and fresh conditioned, realised 14/1. Sixty-one empty ewes, medium to quite well grown, carrying good store order, made 10/2. Eighty whiteface ewe hoggets, small to medium framed, fairly woolled, light, sold at 21/9. Kun with Southdown rams from March 1, a line of 65 six-year ewes, fairly framed and in quite good order, mixed in the mouths, met good competition to sell at 17/5. A pen of 47 whiteface wether hoggets, medium framed, lightly covered, sold well at 17/-. A draft of four- five and six-year-old ewes, run with Southdown rnms from March 5. fairly framed, the older sheep mixed in the mouths, and the pen generally mixed in the wool, si ore conditioned, passed at 18/-.
