D SUPPORT COMPANY
Enjoyable Social Evening
The first of a series of social evenings, which are to be held monthly® ’by the D Support Company, was held last night in the Hastings Drill Hall, when there was a ver ? lai V' attendance. These socials are held in the interest of the boys, and it is here that new friendships are made and a better acquaintance made with their The programme began with the everpopular community singing. Mr Gordon Redward was at the piano, and his rendering of new and old tunes encouraged the boys to give full value to their voices, and every tune was sung with good-hearted gusto. Mr Gordon Redward and Sgt. J. Redward then gave some orchestral items, and they were well received by the boys. As an encore the Redward Bros, sang some very humourous songs, which brought loud laughter. Sgt. Schroder gave an item under the heading of “Black Magic,’’ and it was a puzzle to the boys, who found it impossible to see how the trick was done. However, on it being explained the simplicity made ‘them appreciate it very much. Songs were sung by Pte. E. McClintock, “Rose of Tralee’’ and “Skitalian, ” and a monologue by Pte. M. Donovan, “My Dad.’’ Owing to some of the talented members being ill impromptu items were given, such as a “Shadow Drama’’ and a “Thought Heading’’ item. Prior to the rations being distributed fireside stories were told, and ninny interesting incidents related. The evening concluded with a vote of thunks to Mr Gordon Redward, who is e'er re-lily to help socials of this kind.
